Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary

The Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary has four ranges, of which Muthanga is one. Mainly a rainforest, Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the most bio-rich areas in peninsular India. Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary is situated at a separation of around 84 km from water rafting. Wayanad is known as a standout amongst the most wonderful retreats of Kerala.A variety of large wild animals such as Indian bison, elephant, deer and tiger are found there. There are also quite a few unusual birds in the sanctuary.This wildlife area houses some of the rare and endangered species of both flora and fauna.

Iruppu Falls

Iruppu falls is a picturesque waterfall cascading along the Brahmagiri Mountain Range in the Coorg district of South Karnataka. Also known as the Lakshmana Tirtha Falls, which is a name derived from the tributary of Cauvery River of the same name of which these falls are a part of. People come here to enjoy the blissful vicinity of nature, the grandeur of the falls and also for its religious significance. Iruppu water falls is situated at a separation of around 9 km from barapole water rafting. The best time to visit the falls is during the monsoons when they are at their full capacity and hence become a breathtaking sight to behold.

Tata Tea Estate

TaTa Tea Estate is found exceptionally close to barapole water rafting. In the midst of the bounty of coffee estates in Coorg, a solitary tea estate emerges in delightful quality at Hudikeri close to Gonikippa. Abbey Falls, Coorg

Abbey falls or Abbi Falls is situated 1 km from the town of Madikeri. This waterfall is famous for its natural beauty. This is a famous picnic spot and is called as Jesse falls in the olden days. Abbey falls located between the natural greenery of coffee plantations and spice estates is blessed with stunning beauty and serene calm. The falls has a wild beauty. Water cascading over rocks into the pool. The roaring sound of the waterfalls can be heard from the road. During Monsoon the water flow is very high and in dry seasons the flow is low. There is a hanging bridge here providing the amazing sight of these waterfalls. The best time to visit Abbey falls is early winter.

Dubare Elephant Camp, Coorg

Dubare Elephant Camp is situated on the banks of River Kaveri in Coorg district of Karnataka state. A popular tourist spot, the camp attracts tourists, especially wildlife enthusiasts from all over the world. It presents tourists with an opportunity to be close to elephants and engage in various activities related to them. Elephant rides for tourists are scheduled between 10 am to 12 noon and in the evening from 4pm to 5pm. If interested one can stay here as well at the cottages which are part of Jungle lodges & resorts. These cottages offer comfortable stay amidst lush greenery and wild nature.

Harangi Dam, Coorg

An interesting tourist spot, Harangi dam is situated in the Hudgur village near Kushalnagar of Coorg District. Built across the tributary of River Cauvery, Harangi dam is the first dam that has been built across River Cauvery. It has a height of 47 meters and length of 846 meters creating a marvelous view of forceful streams of water. It is located at a distance of approximately 36 km from Madikeri and can be reached without much difficulty. After having some good time at the lake, tourists can visit other beautiful tourist spots in the town of Somwarpet.

Omkareshwara Temple, Coorg

Omkareshwara Temple, the famous Shiva temple in Madikeri was built by Linga Rajendra in 1820. The temple located at a distance of 1 km from Madikeri is an architectural beauty. The temple has both Islamic and Gothic style of architecture. There is a wonderful pool in front of the temple. There are four Minarets around and a dome in the centre of the temple. A footpath leads to the Mandap. Here the Sivalinga was named as Omkareshwara. It is a popular religious destination of Coorg. The temple draws a large number of tourists and devotees regularly.

Kotebetta Trek / Peak, Coorg

One of the popular tourist spots in Coorg, Kotebetta is the third highest peak in Coorg region after Tadiyandamol and Brahmagiri. At a height of approximately 1620 m above the sea level, Kotebetta is situated in Madhapur which is located between the Somwarpet and Madikeri towns. It is at the border between the Dakshina Kannada and Coorg districts and can be easily reached without much of a hassle. The name of Kotebetta has been derived from the word Kote Betta which means Fort Hill. This is because the hill resembles a fort in its appearance. The best time to go trekking at Kotebetta is during the months of October to March.

Located in the town of Madikeri, Raja seat is a popular tourist spot offering mesmerizing scenic beauty and enchanting environment. With a literal meaning of “Seat of the Kings”, Raja’s Seat used to be a favorite place of kings of Coorg. They used to visit the place so as to get an amazing view of the valley around and refresh themselves.
